September 18th, 2008, Bonny Brooke Beach, Gibsons.

It was a wee bit chillier than previous outings but Ed was already out braving the cold with the LXD75 5" Refractor.

We travelled down to join him and found Bonny Brooke to be a very good location.  There were no street lights shining on us which allowed our eyes to dark adapt quite well.  The view is South West which was also good for seeing planets parading past and down to the Horizon.  Debra brought the 10" Dobsonian and James brought the 6" Celestron Reflector.

We even managed to image the elusive Triangulum Galaxy M33.

September 6th, 2008, Davis Bay, Sechelt.

Saturday night at Davis Bay turned out to have excellent sky conditions.  Despite the street lights, which normally

prevent deep sky viewing, we were able to see The Andromeda Galaxy by eye.  The half Moon dominated the sky

hanging low over the mountains of Nanaimo, while Jupiter hung just above the handle of The Teapot (Sagittarius).

Venus hovered about 3 degrees above the Western horizon and we followed its progress until it set.

David, Gary, Debra and James brought scopes and many passers-by had a look at The Moon, Jupiter and M13.
